Berry Fritz is a British-born artist settled in Texas whose specialty is lushly rendered still lifes, portraits, and character studies in the classical tradition. She draws inspiration from the Netherlands artists of the 17th century as well as American artists of the late 19th century. Although largely self-taught, Berry has taken courses at the City of London School of Art, the University of Texas-Pan American, and workshops with Zoltan Szabo, William Earle and Dick Turner.
Her work has been accepted in juried shows nationwide, most notably in the National Oil and Acrylic Painters exhibition, where she won Best of Show in 1995. She was awarded Signature Membership in Oil Painters of America in 1999, having been accepted into their annual national exhibitions for six consecutive years. She was recently elected a Fellow of the American Artists' Professional League, headquartered in New York City. She has won Best of Show or First in Oils in many national and regional juried shows and has earned numerous secondary prizes and purchase awards.
Works by Berry Fritz are included in many private collections worldwide as well as public collections such as the International Museum of Art and Science in McAllen, the World Trade Center in New Orleans, and the Bosque County Conservatory of Fine Art, Texas
